Why and how do we worship?

As followers of Christ, we are called to glorify the Living God with our lives.  The church family at Willow Meadows meets every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. to worship in covenant with God and each other.  Our service follows the Christian year and lectionary texts are read and preached each week.  Our worship style is "collaborative." To collaborate is “to work together” or “to work, one with another.”  When we collaborate in worship, we work together to make sure our different experiences with music are represented.  Music speaks to each believer differently, so it is unavoidable that a congregation would desire to sing their worship in many different styles.  When we collaborate, each musician and worshiper brings their soul’s expression of faith in God to the Sanctuary to share with their church family.  As the church family enters the doors of the Sanctuary to worship, our actions and thoughs say "I am willing to listen to your expression because I am in covenant with you."

What is a worship art?

A worship art is an act of worship that takes on an art form: a song sung from a grateful heart; a word spoken to give testimony; a display of fabrics that celebrates a Christian holy day; a splash of color that symbolizes a season in the life of Christ; an instrumental work diligently prepared for public worship.

All ages of believers at Willow Meadows Baptist Church create worship arts EVERY WEEK!

On Wednesdays at Collide and Collide, Jr., devoted worship artists teach music education, Scripture through song, worship practices, and instruments to our children  as they learn to use their gifts to praise God.

/files/Children's images/DSCN2674.JPG The yearly Fine Arts Camp gives preschoolers, children, and youth  a safe place to explore their creative expression in a variety of art forms.

The WMBC Fine Arts Camp was created to allow children and youth a place to discover what happens when Christian faith collides with artistic means of expression!

Fine Arts Camp happens every summer.  Join us in summer 2009
for the FIFTH camp!

June 15 - 19, 2009

And each week a number of people in our community share their gifts and offerings with the congregation during the worship services and behind-the-scenes.  Some of our worship art is created before our gatherings but equally enhances our encounters with the mystery of God.  Contact Tracie at tgray@wmbc.org or 713-723-2870 to discover how you can use your gifts to glorify God in worship at WMBC!
